In reply to David Rawlins. I found aldi has mixed spice that has cassia, caraway, coriander seeds, nutmeg, ginger and cloves so I'm guessing it'll be that. It won't be the allspice you use in Chinese as gingerbread isn't close to any of those spices and does contain all the ones in mixed spice

I’m making hot ginger biscuits so this mix with some added cayenne will hopefully do the job! I usually use a gingerbread man premix and add cayenne and extra ginger alongside some stem ginger and syrup but I saw a recipe for making ginger syrup so I’ll be left with 200g of ginger boiled in sugar after I make that to add to a Japanese whisky I bought especially for the ginger syrup drink and for various other recipes and drinks. I think I might double to 3x mix and make a nice big jar up for future use.

In reply to David Rawlins. Hi David! I'm not sure what you have in the UK but the Allspice I use combines flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and pepper.

When you use allspice. Do you mean mixed spice we have in the UK. Or the all spice you find in mid eastern type shops. Thank you David
